It could be another record breaking year for tourist numbers in Spain this year, with nearly 90,000 flights scheduled to fly into Malaga airport alone this summer.
The wave of flights amounts to almost 500 flights per day, bringing a total of 15.5 million tourists to the Costa del Sol.
However, airport director Salvador Merino is optimistic and expects this figure could reach 18 million by October after visitor numbers hit over 1.7 million in the first two months of the year.
By the summer you will be able to travel to 126 destinations from Malaga airport. The UK still accounts for the majority of European travelers coming to Spain; it would seem that Brexit has not suppressed the Brits appetite for the Spanish sunshine, with connections to Malaga from the UK increasing by 9%.
Although it is looking like it will be another bumper year for tourism in Spain, Merino says “many factors could influence the demand” this year, The Euro Weekly reports.
